I am a Free Software Activist, I believe that software should respect your freedom.

September 20th 2008 was software freedom day.
I was part of the Whangaparaoa Plaza team, we raised awareness of software freedom and shared our knowledge of how to free people from the chains of proprietary software such as Microsoft and Adobe.

We had stickers and letters to educators because schools will benefit most from free/open source software.

Because none of the video formats seem to respect freedom follow this link to a short video from the day
http://epick.org/media/SoftwareFreedomday2008.ogg
those formats that they want us to upload our video in are all proprietary, thats shame. There was over 500 teams world wide and only 4 in NZ I hope to see more teams this year.
I heard talk of New Zealand is windows land but thats not true at all, on the day we talked to heaps of people who were already using Gnu/linux OS
I also had the pleasure of meeting Richard Stallman when he came to New Zealand, who inspired me to continue spreading the word that the Free in Free Software means Freedom and not Free beer.

Enough of Software Freedom just wanted to make it clear what my passion in IT is.

When Friends/Family need computer issues fixed they always come to me. I end up setting them up a computer that will never need fixing again by installing a Free OS with free software that will do what they need what ever that may be.
After I ham done they thank me as their computer is running 10 times faster and they dont need to worry about viruses.

Atm i have 3 half built Computers that I dont have the money to finish :(.
